Privacy Policy for Dropignore

Last updated: July 30, 2026

Overview

Dropignore is committed to protecting your privacy. This privacy policy explains how Dropignore handles data when you use our Windows utility for managing Dropbox ignored files.

Data Collection

Dropignore does NOT collect, store, or transmit any personal data.

We do not collect personal information, account data, browsing history, location data, device identifiers, analytics, usage statistics, or crash reports. Dropignore requires no account, no sign-in, and no registration.

Local Data Storage

Dropignore operates entirely on your local device and only stores application data locally, in a settings file in your user application-data folder:

  • The list of file and folder paths you have ignored through the app or Explorer
  • Your selected interface language

This data is stored locally on your device and is never transmitted anywhere.

How Ignoring Works

When you choose to ignore a file or folder, Dropignore writes a marker that Dropbox itself already recognizes (the com.dropbox.ignored file attribute) directly to that file or folder on your disk. This is local filesystem metadata — it is not sent to Dropignore, to Dropbox, or to any other server. Choosing “Unignore” removes this attribute from the file or folder.

Import and Export

Dropignore can export your ignore list to a JSON file, and import a JSON file to restore or set up your ignore list. These files are written to and read from a location you choose on your own device, using the standard Windows file dialog. Dropignore does not upload these files anywhere, and does not read or write any file other than the one you explicitly select.

Network Connectivity

Dropignore does NOT require an internet connection. No network requests are made, no data is sent to external servers, and no telemetry or reporting features exist.

Third-Party Services

Dropignore does NOT integrate with any third-party services — no advertising networks, analytics platforms, cloud storage, or external APIs. Dropignore works only with the Dropbox desktop client already installed on your PC, by reading and writing a file attribute that Dropbox’s own software understands; it does not communicate with Dropbox’s servers or your Dropbox account directly.

System Access

Dropignore only accesses the specific files and folders you choose to ignore, unignore, import, or export — either directly in the app or through the optional Explorer right-click commands. It does not scan your Dropbox folder, your drive, or any other files.

Children’s Privacy

Dropignore is safe for users of all ages. No personal information is collected, no account creation is required, and there is no advertising.

Changes to This Policy

Any changes to this privacy policy will be distributed with application updates. The “last updated” date above will be revised accordingly.

Contact

If you have questions about this privacy policy, please contact us through the app’s store listing page.

Summary

Dropignore is a privacy-first application: no data collection, no network connections, no tracking, no accounts required. Your data — including your ignore list and any files you import or export — stays on your device, under your control, always.
